The restoration of Tommaso De Vigilia's 1492 work, located in the transept inside the chapel of the Madonna del Carmelo, at the Monumental Complex of Carmine Maggiore, has been completed. The restoration strongly desired by the Rector p. Pietro Leta, was made by Franco Fazzio. 

The work, oil on panel, shows the Madonna del Carmelo in the centre. In the lateral predellas, the birth of the Carmelite Order is retraced with a clockwise reading, we admire the first hermits gathered on Mount Carmel who go to the Pope for the approval of their Order, accepted only through the intercession of the Virgin. Wearing the scapular frees the souls in purgatory who are led before the Trinity through Marian intercession.
