"Agnus Dei"

Restoration work has been completed on the beautiful 17th-century stucco sculpture depicting the Agnus Dei, on the altar of the Church of Carmine Maggiore.

The project, commissioned by Rector Peter Leta, the Carmelite Fathers, and the Sikalesh Cultural Association, was carried out by Studio Kéramos Arte e Restauro, under the high supervision of the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage.

After the solemn mass at 10:30 a.m. on Palm Sunday, the restoration was unveiled. Its execution was made possible thanks to the logistical support of the Confraternity of Maria Ss. del Monte Carmelo and restorers Andrea Vasile, Giovanni Vaglica, and Sofia Boubolis.

With the restoration, not only the lamb and the book with the seven seals but also the sunburst, which, with the addition of a light, almost seems to arise from It, have returned to shine.
